Dylan Arts
Make Art Happen
Commission by Helix Arts to produce a collaborative piece with Dylan Arts, a group developed with social prescribing service, Colour Your Life. Two members' groups worked for ten weeks to produce a living willow archway decorated with brightly coloured weather-proof paper lanterns, coming together for the last session to assemble the piece, which was then donated to Willowburn Hospice. Other activities included creating a soundtrack of favourite songs and creative writing.
Community Garden
The Fulforth Centre
Sacriston
Community project with local residents to turn a grassed area to the rear of the Fulforth Centre into a thriving community garden. The twenty week project included activities such as harvesting and planting local living willow to make a 'fedge', building bird houses, a bug hotel, a notice board, pallet wood planters, planting perennials, summer bedding, and vegetables donated by local allotment keepers.
Living Willow Dragon at Laurel Avenue Childrens Centre
A half term project to engage local families in the design and build of a living willow sculpture to add character and fun to the Children's Centre garden. The dragon measures 7.5m x 2.5m and its widest point and the makers had great fun running through his huge tummy and weaving his fins!
